Introduction
From locked brakes to rat’s nests, this 1972 AMC Javelin 401 took three years to fully rebuild. Purchased from Topeka, KS, the frame was rusted, the electronics were busted, and every part needed replacement or refinement. From June 2018 to November 2021, this AMC Javelin underwent a frame upgrade, electrical redesign, interior redesign, engine rebuild, and added safety features. Here are some pictures from the process.
Pre-Restoration

The car was in poor shape. Pistons were stuck, and almost every bolt had to be drilled out; however, the engine block was intact enough to restore to its full potential. Both the interior and exterior were deteriorating due to environmental factors, but hope was found through meticulous bodywork and sewing machines.
During Restoration

Most of the restoration time was spent cutting out rotted metal and rust to ensure the car could last for decades. A partial frame rebuild and full floor panel replacement were necessary for the car’s overall safety. All wiring was replaced and rerouted throughout the newly designed frame.
